I grew up in a large family where an everyday drive to the grocery store was accompanied by five-part harmonies and boisterous sing-a-longs! I was a pastor’s kid, who was constantly under the scrutiny of hundreds of prying eyes which I felt were just waiting for me to screw up. Fortunately, I was able to mess up enough times that they all just realized I was completely normal!
For me, what started as a 3-year-old’s simple, innocent solo in the school Christmas program, soon grew into a deep love for music. By high-school, I was co-leading worship teams in the youth ministry, and after graduation, went on to pursue a double-major in Music & Theology at Multnomah Bible College (now Multnomah University) in Portland, OR. After three years of studies, countless music tours with choirs, ensembles, and various ministry teams, I met an amazing man who would soon become my husband. Kris and I were married 6 months later, in 2001, and in 2002 welcomed our first of three (now ages 4, 6, & 7) children.
One of the biggest blessings of our life together has been not only the marriage of man/woman but also the marriage of two hearts that are completely and wholeheartedly passionate about our God, and about our music. Since 2001, we’ve been leading worship together and separately at various churches in the NW, and have launched the beginnings of my professional music career, including my debut EP CD and a full-length Christmas album (2009).
My heart for worship, music & God’s people have prompted me to accept the position of Worship Director at Kessid Church. As I fight to maintain balance between wife, mother, Worship Director, and my many other “jobs” in life, I know that I’ve just embarked on a journey that will change my life and the lives of my family forever! One of my favorite things to tell God right now (and I think it’s pertinent to the moment) is this: “Bring it on!”
I know that I will endure whatever comes, and that I, with my little child-size hand safely in His, will overcome. Thanks for this incredible opportunity to serve Him!
